Farm Roads and Hidden Parking
A couple weeks ago, I woke up to several excavators and accompanying machinery and equipment. While having all that metal onsite temporarily dampened the aesthetic of the property, their purpose was a good one!
Having three barns for versatility and vast, manicured grounds for beauty and privacy were reasons we fell in love with the property for hosting events. That being said, it was important to us to make sure accessibility to all the barns was a real possibility. We also wanted to provide additional parking onsite.
We knew we didn’t want guests staring at a black top or an excessive amount of dirt/gravel as their first impression pulling up to a wedding at the farm. So we set out to come up with a solution.
We brought back to life an old farm road on the property that was used for entrance to the back acreage when the property was a working tree farm. Doing this allowed us to create additional vehicle access. This was important so other wedding professionals, whether it be caterers, rental drop-offs, a lighting crew, DJ’s/Bands, etc., could all get as close as possible when unloading food supplies, decorations, and equipment. It also means that Grandma and Grandpa (or ladies wearing heels!) can get dropped off way closer to certain areas.
Because we were already bringing back the farm road, it also gave us an opportunity to place parking in a hidden area, enclosed by mature trees and a rock wall. Guests drive off the road, past the barns and pond, and they immediately feel the seclusion of having a wedding on private grounds.
