Hay Barn Receives a New Door (and we play a game of musical barn doors)!
When we first toured the farm, I fell in love with the detail on the Dairy Barn doors.
Upon walking through the Hay Barn, we actually found more doors with the same design, so I was excited to restore them and hang them back up on the barns once it was officially ours. The problem? When we moved in and measured everything, it became a mystery as to where those doors were originally hung!
Luckily for me, T got his crew from Black Bear/Mag Con to build me a new barn door for the front of the Hay Barn with the same, beautiful design. Eventually, we’ll replace all the barn doors to match, but we wanted to start with a new Hay Barn door so we could also replace the swinging barn door in the back of the barn.
I actually liked the look of the swinging doors, but the breeze at the farm would constantly win over our efforts to find ways to keep them latched open, and we’re all about safety first! That being said, I wanted the matching barn door to be in the more visible spot, so our crew of helpers bared with me and playing a nice game of musical barn doors – old back door came down, front door moved to the back, new front door went up. Did I mention how heavy the doors are? Or say 'THANK YOU!' to Black Bear, yet?!
In the meantime, I’ll be pondering what projects I can work on to repurpose the mystery barn doors hanging out in our garage (for now)! Any ideas out there?
